Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about how to choose a brake controller that's gonna be right for you and your particular application. When it comes to picking out a trailer brake controller for your particular setup, things can get kinda overwhelming pretty quick. There's just so many different options out there and so many available, things can kinda start to get confusing. So, the purpose of today's video is just to kinda break that down, simplify it, and hopefully, kinda get you going in the right direction on what type of brake controller will be right for your vehicle. Review of CURT Trailer Brake Controller - Proportional Controller - C51180- Video
Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Echo Wireless Proportional Trailer Brake Controller for one to two axle trailers. Now, this brake controller will plug into your vehicle, and it'll wirelessly connect to your smartphone, and it uses a Bluetooth connection, which will let you control all your brake settings from an app on your smartphone. Basically, you can see this part here will plug into your 7-way at the back of your vehicle, and then right up here you'll plug in the 7-way connector from your trailer into the port here. It's a very nice, easy to use design, it's very simple to install. Now, it does require a smart device that has OS requirements if it's an Apple device of 8.0 or newer and a Android device of 4.3 or newer. more

Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2021 Ford F-150- Video
Hey, everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller here in a 2021 Ford F-150. So the P3 is gonna be a great addition to your F-150 here if you don't already have a factory brake controller installed on the vehicle. So a trailer brake controller is gonna allow you to control the brakes, the electric brakes on a trailer from inside the cab of the vehicle. So all your larger trailers with those seven-way trailer connectors, most of them are gonna require an electric trailer brake controller, which is where the P3 comes into play. So this is probably one of the most longstanding trailer brake controllers on the market. Tekonsha has an excellent reputation. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty trailer brake controller here on a 2017 Toyota Sequoia. So, one of the biggest standout features here of the Redarc brake controller, is what it looks like when it's installed on your vehicle. Now, normally with our traditional brake controller, you're not only gonna be drilling into your dash you're gonna be taking up some of that vital leg room, getting in and out. A lot of people like to refer to those controllers as knee-knockers, and that's our traditional style break controller, it's rather large and clunky. Now with the Redarc, we're not gonna have any of those same issues because most everything is actually gonna be installed behind the dash. The only thing we can see is a small little control knob, and you can see it only sticks out around a half inch or so from your dash here, so you're not taking up much space whatsoever and it looks pretty much factory for you ask me. more

Now, the best part about the Tow-Pro Liberty is its small size and footprint that it puts here on our dash. Many of your traditional brake controllers are gonna have a box that's mounted down here in this location. And every time you get in and out, your knees come close to it, you have the potential of, you know, hitting your leg on it. Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Proportional Brake Controller on a 2019 Toyota Highlander. The Redarc is a awesome brake controller and the main reason why is gonna be the footprint. Most brake controllers, when you think of them, you probably have scars somewhere on your knees from hitting them as you get in because they mount down low and sometimes they can be in a nice position, but honestly it does get in the way when you're getting in and out. And over time, it's just one thing that's kind of in the way. If you can eliminate that, get a bigger foot, or a smaller footprint that looks nice in OEM but still have all the functions, why not And that's where this one comes into play. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at installing the REDARC Tow-Pro Elite proportional breaking controller on a 2019 Toyota Sequoia. Here we have our brake controller installed and you can see we've used the REDARC panel here and it just goes directly into the knockout plate. So it looks really, really nice. And also as you're driving generally if you're resting your hand here on the shifter, you can activate this really easy right exactly where you need it. And the best part I think about the REDARC system is you don't have a clunky brake controller in the way. more

Now this is a proportional brake controller, so what that means is it's going to activate your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's breaking action. So this is going to activate your trailer's brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. This is a proportional brake controller so the inertia sensor inside will detect vehicle movement. So if you ever slam on the brake show your body like kind of slams forward the inertia sensor detects that, and it knows that it's your vehicle is slowing down based on that. And it uses that along with your adjustment controls to give you the best breaking performance at the back. Instructor Hi there, Colorado owners. Today on your 2022 Chevrolet Colorado we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's P3 proportional trailer brake controller. What's nice about these proportional brake controllers is you get a much more natural braking, 'cuz when you hit the brake pedal it detects that your vehicle is, it can feel that move in, and then the slowing down movement. The inertia sensor detects that and it uses that to determine how intense to apply the brakes to help match your vehicle. You do still have your options for setting your power. We've got a maximum being 14, and then you can go all the way down with it. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Tow-Pro Liberty proportional brake controller on a 2016 Ram 1500. Now, this is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed and you can see, it takes up very little real estate. And in fact, we're able to find a nice little pocket here and it's gonna be super accessible for the driver to actually adjust and manually override on the brakes. And that's gonna be really great because normal brake controllers kinda sit down here where your knees are, and generally you just kinda bump them when getting in and then sometimes reaching down to actually do the manual override can kinda be cumbersome. And that's the great part about the Redarc is small space but also very easy to use. more

To assist us with this installation, we're also going to be using the REDARC plug-in play cable that is custom fit for our Yukon and that will plug directly into the factory connector down below. This is this designed for trailers up to three axles. So you get more output on this one than you do with like the Tow Pro Liberty. The Prodigy P2 is gonna be a step down from the P3. The difference is this front screen here and some of the buttons and where they're located. On a P3 you're gonna have a bigger display and we're gonna have different color options and stuff. But this is just kinda be the bare-bones but not completely bare-bones 'cause we still do get a screen. more

Today we have a 2021 Ford Bronco in the shop and we're enabling it to do a little bit more. We're gonna be showing you how to install the Tekonsha PowerTrac Brake Controller. PowerTrac is definitely gonna be the bare bones but not for even the bigger trailers that you may have. This is going to support up to two axles and there's no boot setting. So all we have here is the manual override button. We don't get a number or a digit or anything like that with other ones on our website. more

Today here at etrailer we're gonna be taking a look at a 2021 Ford Bronco, but we're gonna enable it to do more. We're putting the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller. So the Prodigy3 is gonna have a little bit more options than some of your standards but the standard type of features with the brake controller is, we're gonna have our adjustments. So it goes all the way up to 12.8, but that's for your bigger stuff and then you can go down as far as you want. You can click okay right here. And then we have a little slider which is on the bottom, a little bit different than before but you're gonna have that with all your other direct controllers, your manual override. more

Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2021 Ford Bronco- Video
What's up, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today we have a 2021 Bronco in the shop, and we're getting some upgrades and we're gonna be taking a look at the CURT Discovery trailer brake controller. This is kind of in between the bare bones brake controller, but also the higher end one. That makes it kind of in the middle of the screen in the front. So some of them don't even have a digital display screen. I like that because I wanna see the numbers. more

Curt Echo Under-Dash Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2021 Ford Bronco- Video
Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the CURT Echo under-dash brake controller on our 2021 Ford Bronco. This is not your typical brake controller. One, we have no neat knockers down here which is kind of annoying but also all you have to do is plug it in and hide it underneath the dash. So you don't have to look at it either. The one thing we will need to have a phone or an iPad 4 is to set up the profiles initially. We have a lighter trailer, we really don't need a whole lot of breaking to happen on the trailer. more

Today we have a 2021 Ford Bronco in the shop and we're gonna enable it to do a little bit more. We're gonna be adding the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller. The Primus IQ is kind of the bare bones when it comes to trailer brake controller. Doesn't have a fancy screen, but it does have a screen. So, this isn't the lowest tier you can get. I really don't need a lot of bells and whistles. more

Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2021 Ford Bronco- Video
Today we're enabling our 2021 Ford Bronco to do a little bit more. We are taking a look at the Draw-Tite Brake Controller. This is a proportionate braking system. So whenever you're going at faster speeds, it's going to apply the brakes a little bit more. It's gonna match what you're putting on your pedal. But if you are in traffic and you press on the brakes, it's not gonna completely lock 'em up. more

Hey everybody, how's it going. Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Echo mobile brake controller here on our 2018 Ram 1500. So there's tons of electric trailer brake controllers out there on the market. This certainly isn't the only one to choose from. However, this one is very unique in the fact that it's wireless. Most of your traditional brake controllers are going to plug in to a port under the dash or if you don't have that port, in some instances, you have to hardwire them into the vehicle, and that requires a lot of modifications to the vehicle. more

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Primus IQ Proportional Brake Controller on a 2019 Honda Passport. Now this is a proportional brake controller and what that means is, as you slow down with your vehicle, the trailer's gonna do the same and once you fine tune it with your gain, you should be able to get those brakes to work well with the vehicle, making a smooth operation. Now what's nice too, is you can actually have proportioning with your manual slide. So if the trailer's starting to get a little bit swirly and swaying around, you can lightly put the brakes on and then if you really need them to slow down you can push a little bit more and you're gonna get that actual full level of gain. So and if you ever need more, you can just simply turn your knob and you can see that the gain actually changes there. more

Now the P3 is one of the more premium brake controllers out on the market. And it does set itself apart in a bunch of different ways. And part of this is this nice LED screen really is a good visual for a lot of different things including being able to set multiple presets for different trailers. So if you are someone who tows a bunch of different trailers it's really nice to have those presets ready. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Curt Echo Under-Dash Trailer Brake Controller here on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. So the Curt Echo Under-Dash Trailer Brake Controller is one of my favorite options on the market. And the reason for this is simple. With most traditional brake controllers, you have to drill into the bottom of your dash and then you have this bulky controller that you're gonna hit your knees on getting in and out of your truck here. With the Echo Under-Dash, everything is gonna be installed behind the dash there. There's no drilling into the dash whatsoever and you're not gonna be sacrificing your leg room. more
